SUPPORT GROUP GUIDELINES

Confidentiality:  Maintain absolute confidentiality.  Whatever is shared within the group remains private, and is not to be discussed outside of the group.

Attendance:  Make a commitment to attend each week.  We are building a close group, and it will be difficult for you to maintain your “connectedness” if you miss more than two sessions.

Arrival Time:  To honor the rest of the group and avoid interruptions, please make every effort to arrive on time.  Our group begins promptly at 6:00 p.m.

Homework:  Make a commitment to complete each assigned homework lesson.  Some lessons will be more difficult for you than others, but we encourage you to set aside the necessary time to complete the study.  The more you put into it the more you will get out of it.

Communication Rules:  We encourage each person to share as much and as often as possible in order to get the most benefit from the group.  When one of us is sharing, the rest will remain silent and listen.  We ask you to share fully, but as briefly as possible in order to allow enough time for each person to share.

Friendships: Unlike other support groups, you are encouraged to develop healthy friendships with other members of this group and help one another manage the burden of single parenting.

Faith: This is a faith-based support group.  All discussion, regardless of topic, will be approached from a biblical perspective to promote spiritual growth.

No Judgment:  This is an environment where no one will be judged, but encouraged and supported. We all need to know that we can share our deepest hurts and feelings without judgment or criticism.

Vision:  To reach out to unwed mothers and their children who are alone, lacking direction, broken-hearted, and without hope – offering an environment of encouragement and support, free from judgment.

Mission:  To meet the needs and challenges of unwed mothers through education, training and support, enabling young women to make better lives for themselves and their children.

Goal:  To promote positive life changes and shape the hearts of the next generation in a Godly direction by offering unconditional love and acceptance.
